Thomas Schulz, MD, FACP

Dr. Schulz is a native of Great Bend, Kansas and is a graduate of Newman University and the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine – Wichita. He completed his residency in internal medicine also at the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine – Wichita, followed by two years as an academic general internist at KU. He completed a Fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at the University of Colorado. While there, he was named Chief Fellow in Medical Oncology and was the recipient of a Susan G. Komen grant to study breast cancer in the Latina population.

In July 2000, Dr. Schulz moved to Wichita where he holds a joint appointment with the Cancer Center of Kansas and the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine – Wichita. He practices hematology and medical oncology as well as being an Associate Professor of Medicine, teaching medical residents and students and is the Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Program. Dr. Schulz has previously earned the Faculty Teaching Award and the Resident Teaching Award at the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine – Wichita. He is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and hematology.

In 2003, Dr. Schulz was presented with the Thor Jager, M.D Award. The Thor Jager, M.D. Award was awarded to him by the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine – Wichita 2003 class.

In 2008, Dr. Schulz was awarded the KU Gaines’ Professorship. The Gaines Professorship was established by a $1 million gift from Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gaines. The Gaines Professorship supports a research program that enrolls Wichita patients in Phase I clinical trials.

Since joining the Cancer Center of Kansas, Dr. Schulz has made significant contributions to our high quality patient care and clinical cancer research efforts.
