CCK Hosts 13th Annual Mid-America Cancer Symposium

The Cancer Center of Kansas (CCK), together in partnership with McKesson Specialty Health, hosted its annual Mid-America Cancer Symposium on August 9th-10th at the Wichita Marriott.  This program is designed for providers who treat cancer patients, which includes medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, internists, pathologists and other specialists, in Kansas and neighboring states wanting to learn about the latest updates in the field.  These updates are presented by leading industry experts, which this year included Dr. Edith Perez on breast cancer, Dr. Lawrence Einhorn on lung cancer and Dr. Sunandana Chandra on immuno-oncology research.  It is also an opportunity for top physicians throughout the Midwest to discuss strategies for treating patients and learn from one another.

“To be able to attract and welcome such well-respected cancer experts to Wichita speaks volumes for the quality of cancer care in Kansas, which we are so proud to be a part of,” says President Dr. Shaker Dakhil. “This event is an example of our commitment to ensuring the latest and best in treatment is right here in our community.”  This year marks the 13th year of the symposium, which gathered more than 160 top-tier physicians from 6 different states.  By creating and keeping the event in Wichita, CCK hopes to continue to support the local economy and showcase the state of Kansas as a leader in the education and promotion of cancer innovation and research.
